blip the siren (Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington)

“Pure honesty, total freedom: immersive joyous theatre” – Theatreview
“completely drags you into its whirlpool of glory, and sends us back out in waves of beauty. It’s a fantastic experience that can barely be described” Wellyott

blip is an immersive underwater adventure by award-winning performance artist Isaac Hooper. Galvanised by live looping, interactive projection, and psychedelic soundscapes of the revolutionary new performance art dubbed Cyborg Sound Poetry, blip needs to cool off at the beach.

Come and join the sea creature chorus and cast your voice into the whirlpool as blip ventures beneath the waves, braving the absurdities of life as their subconscious seeps out into the deep. Through experimental vocal techniques, live electronics, and anarchic improvisation, blip explores the power of the human voice against the cataclysmic wave of noise.

Winner of the Emerging Artist Award at Auckland Fringe 2024, blip dives into Nelson for a rejuvenating plunge into experiences of traumatic brain injury, aphasia, and finding your voice.

“An extraordinary extrasensory experience that will blow your mind. blip is a deeply unique and exciting new solo performance from the brilliant brain of Isaac Hooper” – Dr Kerryn Palmer, Te Herenga Waka
