Frankenstein Abridged

Frankenstein Abridged
Antics (Timaru)

“”If I cannot inspire love, I will cause fear!”

The show must go on. Right? This is a fun and fast-paced parody of the iconic story of Doctor Frankenstein. When the theatre company fails to make it to opening night, the backstage theatre crew take the reins and deliver their humorous take on the play.

Warning: Contains crochet.

Mary Shelley wrote Frankenstein in 1817, when she was just 18. An interesting fact, I think.

She wrote it as part of a competition with her husband Percy, and… some other joker. She won of course.

How well do you know Shelley’s Gothic novel? Do you picture a tall green man with bolts in his neck? Perhaps you think of Egor, the Doctor’s hunchback companion? Or is it Gene Wilder’s googly eyes that come to mind? Funnily enough, none of these featured in her gothic novel.

Prepare to be horrified! Prepare to be informed. And more importantly, prepare to be entertained, as we present to you an authentic presentation…with some artistic license of course…of this science fiction gem.

Antics are a group of performers from Timaru, who connected through the Playhouse Theatre – world famous in South Canterbury. Our philosophy is ‘if you’re not having fun, you’re not doing it right’.
