Human is a very original, gripping and life-affirming dive into some big questions. The solo performer takes on both the imaginative characters ‘Robot’ and ‘Human’ with tremendous physical skill, and creates a captivating chemistry between the two. Potent and touching themes that relate to our own humanity are woven into this beautiful story with a child-like charm.

A wonder-filled being by the name of ‘Human’ meets task-obsessed ‘Robot’. The two unwittingly find themselves on a journey of increasing discordance as each of their realities is thrown up in the air. Questions rain down that challenge everything they know: Is ‘Human’ really acting out of his own free will, and can ‘Robot’ overcome his programming?
Human follows Chai’s first solo show, REAL, which has been performed 16 times around New Zealand, including Nelson Fringe 2023.
